Following the release of the trailer for the .hack the Movie: Seikai No Mukou ni, these leaked scans from the latest issue of Famitsu have revealed that a new game is currently in the works.
Not much is known about the game, even the title is unknown, much less the platform and release date. However, when interviewed, Connect2 CEO Matsuyama Hiroshi stated that the highly detailed screenshots in the magazine are all taken real-time from the game. He also reveals that the new game will have a photo realism element to the visuals rather than the anime style as seen in .hack//G.U. and .hack//Link.
The screenshots feature Haseo, the protagonist of .hack//G.U., however, Matsuyama refused to confirm if it’s the same Haseo in the game. The new game was planned almost simultaneously with the .hack movie. Matsuyama also stated that the two will be related, with the game taking place in 2025, a year after the events of the movie.
There will be more official details revealed about the game after the .hack movie’s release on January 21, 2012.
